Abstract

The article evaluates the state of arts of compared politics in Brazil. To accomplish this goal it analyzes the ten most important centers for research and post-graduation in Political Science and International Affairs. Firstly, we discuss a definition for compared studies and compared politics, elaborating a brief review of the field and the compared method, as well as we synthesize the methodological debate that currently prevails in the N orth American compared politics. Secondly, we try to map the occurrence of the compared perspective in our professional gatherings (Anpocs and ABCP) and in the Brazilian academic métier in the last fifteen years. Finally, we seek to indicate both the obstacles and the advantages of comparative studies, as well as the favorable aspects to structure the field in our academic métier, proposing both suggestions and a draft for a research agenda.
