Abstract

The article analyzes the literature about environmental matters as seen in Brazilian social sciences, focusing the analysis on the last decade. Firstly, it tracks the most representative international bibliography cleavages aiming at providing a comparative perspective for evaluating the Brazilian literature. It then organizes the national production from three approaches: environmental and politics studies, public politics and participation studies, and cultural studies. Finally, it pinpoints the discord between approach diversity and international bibliographical methodology and the generalizing essays and the prevailing case studies found in the national literature
