Cet article présente un examen de la documentation internationale sur les célébrités et politiciens dans le domaine de la démocratie représentative. Bien que ce soit un élément essentiel de la société, les impacts et les caractéristiques des sujets célèbres impliqués dans la politique sont peu connus. Dans quelle mesure la célébrité modifie-t-elle les formes de représentation ? Quels sont les types idéaux de célébrités ? Les célébrités révèlent-elles l’émergence de mécanismes alternatifs pour impliquer la population? Cette étude vise à présenter un panorama de ce débat en analysant une littérature scientifique importante, produite au cours des 50 dernières années — notamment aux États-Unis et en Angleterre. À la fin de la recherche, une analyse des différentes typologies de célébrités politiques (CP) et de politiciens célébrités (PC) est réalisée. Enfin, un programme de recherche empirique contribuant à une meilleure compréhension du processus de transformation des politiciens en célébrités dans le contexte de la politique brésilienne est proposé.
