Le retour de la comparaison ethnographique

l’épistémologie dans les moments de changement politique

Résumé

Cette étude examine différentes approches des comparaisons ethnographiques et analyse les débats récents et anciens sur la manière de comparer les preuves ethnographiques et montre comment les épistémologies comparatives ont changé au cours de certains moments politiques (colonialisme, décolonisation et fin de la Guerre Froide). De nouvelles formes réflexives de comparaison avec des racines en épistémologie interprétative ont récemment vu le jour. La fin de la Guerre Froide a stimulé des formes de comparaison et de réflexivité qui ont donné lieu à ce que j’appelle une comparaison de sérendipité: une approche comparative basée sur une épistémologie interprétative qui considère la sérendipité, la réflexivité et la pertinence comme plus importantes que le contrôle.
