Economic sociology in the United States
main authors, concepts and debates
Keywords:
Economic Sociology, Embeddedness, United States, Networks, Economic CultureAbstract
The article addresses economic sociology, an area that had been through rapid institutionalization from the critical dialogue with neoclassical economics. Considering the importance that the area has achieved and the absence of a literature review in Brazil on the production in the United States, the objective of this study is to build a “state of the art” of the economic sociology of the country, identifying the main authors, theoretical tools and debates. We argue that the area was built around the concept of embeddedness, used by Karl Polanyi and recovered by Mark Granovetter, which directly or indirectly inspires authors and organizes the debates of the field.
