Abstract

In this study we analyze the path followed by Sociology MAs and PhDs in Brazilian post-gra- duation programs. We start it by briefly describing the social sciences field in Brazilian society in order to draw its path and institutionalization, as well as the post-graduation evolution. We then analyze their social and demographic profiles, according to the institutions. We also analyze data related to time spent in getting the titles, as well as their work and study path. Their motivation in taking the courses and how they see some post-graduation contribution are taken into consideration to evaluate the post-graduation impact on professional paths.
