Democracia discursiva
contribuições e dilemas da abordagem deliberativa do grupo australiano

Este artigo visa discutir a perspectiva da “democracia discursiva” no seio das abordagens que compõem o modelo deliberacionista de democracia. Inicialmente, exploram-se as premissas teóricas do trabalho de John Dryzek, que questiona o individualismo metodológico ao propor um descentramento dos sujeitos na teoria democrática. Em seguida, abordam-se três desdobramentos recentes de sua obra: a noção de representação discursiva, a transnacionalização da democracia e o conceito de metaconsenso. Por fim, analisam-se três estudos empíricos que repensam os conceitos de legitimidade (Parkinson, 2003), parti-cipação (Hendriks, 2004) e aprendizado social (Kanra, 2004) à luz da perspectiva discursiva. Apesar das contribuições dessa corrente, dois problemas saltam aos olhos: (1) a ausência de um mecanismo de arti-culação entre arenas comunicativas; e (2) a negligência ao componente situacional na análise de discurso...
