A presença de de Erving Goffman na produção sociológica brasileira

Abstract

The study aims to understand the presence (or absence) of Erving Goffman in Brazilian sociological production. As a justification, it points to the possibility of the themes worked on by the author to adhere to research in the Brazilian sociological field, thus lacking
a study to identify these links, if any. It is descriptive research of a quantitative-qualitative nature and documental analysis was used to examine the data, whose sources are the thesis and dissertations defended in postgraduate degree programs in the field of
Sociology, between 2011 and 2020. This study showed five fields of analysis: social stigmas; the representation of the self and life as a stage; social interactions and behaviors; rituals and rules; and the total institutions. It is concluded that Goffman makes himself
relevant to the present times from the different concepts discussed in his trajectory and that dialogue with the scenario and the Brazilian research agendas.
