Abstract

This review essay aims to present a very brief assessment of the run of of zero-hour contracts, a modality regulated by the 2017 Labor Reform. To this end, nine papers published between 2018 and 2022 are discussed, including articles published in journals or presented at events. It is concluded that, as a whole, the works are critical of the modality and provide evidence to support that, in one hand, the new labor legislation was enacted in conflict with the major legislation and the constitutional text and, on the other hand, it was not as successful as a public policy for work and employment.
