The constitution of knowledge on sexuality from different analytical perspectives

During the past decades we have witnessed the emergence of a significant production on sexuality from the standpoint of the human sciences. Especially anthropology and history have focused more often on the studies of sexuality sciences whose constitution began in the end of the nineteenth century. Among these sciences are the psychoanalysis, sexology and gynecology and the central role of the medical theories. Although bibliography on these areas shows many common characteristics, a critical analysis may allow us to distinguish different objectives and perspectives. Two important lines are highlighted. Those are analyzed taking into account the place given to sexuality and the meaning of sexual difference for the understanding of modern society.
