This article maps the reception of the contemporary theories about justice in Brazil, presenting the rhythm, dimension, and specific ways by which such thematic has been absorbed by Brazilian social scientists. The investigation involved the publishing market, main academic magazines, academic theses and dissertations, and communications presented in congresses and meetings. The research was conducted between 1990 and 2003, varying, though, according to the source. Because the study poses itself as an exploratory incursion, conclusions are provisory. Nevertheless, in the last ten years the studies on justice in Brazil, though petty, have firmed a regular normative discussion space in the Social Sciences, especially in the Political Science branch, having seen a growing tendency of interest on the subject. From the qualitative viewpoint, we call attention to the diversity of contributions from native authors, as well as to the variety of organizational shapes of papers, fully aware of the relative dispersion of institutional filiations, issues that, as a whole, might indicate a more promising future for such intellectual endeavors for the matter in Brazil.
