Abstract

The recent sociological and anthropological studies on Religion have been emphasizing either the discussion on the primacy of secularization in modernity or the revival of the repressed sacredness. This article intends to escape such polarization and proposes alternative ways of analyzing the transformations that the religious phenomena has been through nowadays, especially in our country, considering the new religious movements that have been appearing in Brazil and around the world.
