Quilombos
the bibliographic repertoire of a question redefined (1995-1997)
Abstract
Synthesized in this bibliographical repertoire, the knowledge that has been produced on social situations now designated as quilombos gives expression not only to an issue and a problem but above all to the shaping of a unique domain within intellectual life. Attention is focused on how quilombo has moved from a historical category and a term applied within formal-legal discourse to the conceptual plane, where its construction has been based on the representation system used by social agents involved in empirically observable situations. The elements of contrast entailed in this shift-which is also defined as ’re-semanitizing’-further make the advent of a collective identity evident.
